Drury Lane Indian Wedding

Kicking off our second event of the weekend was a Chicago wedding for Johan and Divya at Drury Lane in Oakbrook, Illinois. Drury Lane is an infamous venue known for not only great theatre, but it's Sunday brunch. With the ceremony going on at another location we began setting up at 1pm for a 5:30pm start. Matta with Lavish weddings was also setting up the decor at this time. They included a lovely arched entrance for guests to walk through. Our lighting totems completed the bedazzling look for their wedding entrance. Included with our setup were 25 uplights, a screen/projector for showing their montages, surround sound and an upgraded wedding dj package. This including "moving-head" lights that created a nice spot-lighted introduction for the wedding party.

After introductions the mother's performed the traditional milk ceremony and both fathers gave heartfelt speeches.

The couple chose to keep with tradition and included a soundtrack of Bollywood love songs for their wedding dj dinner music. Halfway through dinner, two family members took over the MC duties. This usually happens at Indian weddings as they enjoy family and friends making the announcements.

Keeping in-tune to classic 90s tracks, the couple chose Kci and Jojo's "All My Life" for their first dance song. Boy II Men even earned  a spot in the first dances for the evening.

Classic Bollywood tracks such as "Desi Girl" ignited the dance floor and there was little effort needed to get guests dancing. The night went from Bollywood hits to Hip-Hop to EDM with NO slow songs. The bride and groom were even hoisted above the crown on chairs. By the end of the night it seemed the party would have to go on and we're sure it did elsewhere as the guests receded into quickly back into the lobby and on to the afterparty.

See you on the dancefloor,
Ryan Meeks
